Do you have to be licensed to fly a drone?Pilots of drones intended for recreational and hobby use are not required to hold a license by the Federal Aviation Administration. (FAA) However, pilots of drones intended to be used for commercial applications are required to hold a Part 107 Unmanned Aircraft Pilot Certificate. Pilots found to be operating commercially without a license are subject to fines of $2,500 per flight.
